These are my two pieces of explanation writing from Term 1 and Term 4. We have been comparing them. I think that my term 4 explanation writing is better then my term 1 explanation writing because the spelling is better and I have a secondly paragraph. Here are my two pieces of explanation writing.
As you can see my term 4 explanation writing has improved.

Annelise's explanation
This Friday is our Greats and Grans Day. In the activity we wrote 4 things about our grandparents problems and then chose one to write about and how to cope with it. The one I chose was lack of Eyesight.

How Grandparents Cope with Eyesight.
|
1st paragraph
Define and describe what you are explaining.
|
A grandparent is a person who is old enough for their baby to have a baby. When people start to get old different parts of their bodies start to get worn out and they can no longer do what they could do before. This is called aging and it causes many problems. One aging problem is losing eyesight.
|
Middle
|
2nd paragraph
Write about one thing you can do to cope with hearing loss.
|
One thing that a grandparent can do to cope with their eyesight is getting bigger writing so they can still read books and signs around town.
|
3rd paragraph
Write about a second thing you can do to cope with hearing loss.
|
A second thing they can do is invest in a well trained guide dog to help them get around town and to not bump into things that could hurt them.
| |
4th paragraph
Write about a third thing you can do to cope with hearing loss
|
A third thing they could do is get stronger glasses to just wear around the house to see where they are going.
| |
End
|
5th paragraph
Wind up your writing.
|
Eyesight can be a difficult aging problem for grandparents to deal with but people are hopeful that improvements in technology will be a big help for this problem in the future.

Can you make it to NZ?
This week we have been writing letters for our grandparents for Greats and Grands Day on Friday. I did mine in Danish so my Grandma could read it.😉
