Maths Halving

Hello,👋

Today for maths we've been doing halving. 

We had to draw a shape and then our buddies had to try and half it.

Some the shapes couldn't be halved.

There were 19 squares in each half.

It was really easy to draw the shape.😎

I enjoyed trying to see how the shapes could be halved.😂

It was hard to half my buddies shape.😕

It was also hard to make the table.

Mixed Ability Maths

Hello,👋

This term we have tried a new kind of maths called Mixed Ability Maths.
It's when we are put in a group of 3 or 4 then have to work out difficult
maths problems with each other. I sometimes found it difficult working in this new way
of learning, but I gave it all I got this whole term!

What did I enjoy? I enjoyed seeing the people in my group
showing new ways of working things out.

What I have found difficult? I found that it was sometimes hard to
communicate with my group. 

I don't really know what we could do to make this
more fun and enjoyable for everyone but I do know
that it would be easier to work out problems if everyone
was on the same thinking level. 😁😎

Annelise’s Maths Thinking

Hello,
For two days, we have been learning about how to use equal adjustments and place value partitioning.
We did this to help with our maths and all our learning.
The learning behind this was equal adjustments and place value partitioning.
On a google draw we have been showing our learning in a colourful way.

 I was good at adding the ones to the problem.
 I was bad at the 3rd problem. (I needed help)

Figure Me Out

Today I finished my Figure me out drawing.

Yesterday I made one of these on a piece of paper with my group (But it was less colourful!!).

The equations were hard at first but I started to understand.
which made it easier to know I was doing. 
I was good at choosing the colours.

I wasn't so good at getting the right size of font the first time!!👅✌ 
I learnt how to Embed my Figure me out drawing to my blog post, its pretty smart!! 

My Numeracy progress in 2018.

Here are two links to show you my numeracy learning in 2018. In Term 1, I was on Stage 5 but now I have moved up to Stage 6. I'm pretty happy with my progress. I want to get better at rounding and remainders next year.

Geometry tasks

For the last few weeks our focus for maths has been Geometry. We got to choose geometry tasks to   complete.        

PAT Maths Test

In my PAT maths test that we did yesterday I got 26 out of 35 but the term 1  PAT maths test that we did I got  20 out of 35. In the term 4 one that I did yesterday I got all of my Statistics rite.

Temperature

For the last 4 weeks we have been working on this drawing on temperature because we are going on a ski tip next week. My favourite thing I did was the doing the silly sentence.

Maths strategy

Here is a maths strategy.

Fractions

We have been learning about fractions. Fractions are a part of a shape or a number. The bottom of a fraction is called a denominator and the top number of a fraction is the numerator. Fractions are equal parts

Paper spinner

We made paper spinners for maths. We had to use our fraction and shape knowledge to help us fold our spinner. We decorated our spinner with patterns and colours. we battled our spinners with a friend. My spinner wasn't very good when I was battling but after I pinched it my spinner was way better.
