Hello,
Team Moana has been learning about the preparation for a hangi. Yesterday and today we have been working on the preparation of the hole but not the food yet. There are 6 steps to preparing the hole. We could do an animation, a movie and a story. Me and my group did an animation.
I didn't really like how we could only have 50 slides at the most because I love my detail.
I liked the choices that we had, I don't really like animations but it was the fastest.
The learning behind this task was to put the preparation of a hangi into a DLO.

Language exploration
Hello,
Today, Team Moana have been given a choice, to do an animal report or to do an activity with words. We have from today till Friday to get these activities. I chose to do the activity that involved words. So, what we had to do was ether make a slide or a drawing and name it "Language exploration-verb" or "Language exploration-adjective" depending on if your word is a verb or adjective. Then we had to make a new slide, on this new slide we would chose a word. We had to brainstorm some words around the word in the middle, it had to be colourful and had to have a readable but fun font. We could go to Thesaurus to help us (it is an online site that shows you better words for a plain word and it shows you the definitions for words you don't know). After all of the work on that slide there is one more slide to go, when you went looking in Thesaurus you would have found a word that you don't understand so we had to do one more slide and write down the word. We had to find the definition, find out how many syllables, show the vowels, show the consonants, write how it's said, find smaller words that mean the same and write a sentence that has the word in it.
I enjoyed looking for words on Thesaurus for "Run".
I didn't really like having to spell all of the words that went into this task.
The learning behind this task was to be able to better words for a simple plain one.

Autumn Morning (Leaf writing)
Hello again bloggers,π
our class. As it is winter and all the leaves are
dying and they're all going reds, oranges, yellows
and browns we had to write a creative piece of
writing.
We went on a walk around the back to look at the
leaves that are dying. There was this tree that had
hundreds of leaves around its trunk.
This is my Google Draw Autumn Morning.

Structure of the Earth Facts
Hello,ππ
For writing today we did some facts on the structure and the layers of the Earth.
Yesterday we all got into groups of three and made an Earth out of modelleing clay,
then we all painted the four layers of the Earth in different colours
(blue, green, yellow, red, brown and orange).
I really liked making the continents and islands on the crust.π
It was really hard making the layers because we kept on squishing
them so you couldn't see that they were layers.πππ
Here is my writing and my photos:

Structure of the Earth Facts
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are: Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core.
Facts about each layer:
Crust - The crust is the thinnest layer out of all four of them.
The crust is 8-40 kms thick!!
Mantle - The mantle is the thickest layer of them all. It has melted rocks that squish around
because it’s so hot.
Outer Core - The Outer Core is the 3rd layer to the inside of the Earth.
It is totally liquid-rock and it’s also 4000-6000℃.
Inner Core - The Inner core might be really, really super duper hot but it is solid why?
Because of all the pressure pushing down on it from all the other layers.
Because of all the pressure pushing down on it from all the other layers.
Our group - Saphera, Aaidyn and I Anneliseπ
First we created a 3D image of the earth using modelling clay, paint and
(blue, green, yellow, red, brown and orange) a knife (to shape the layers).
(blue, green, yellow, red, brown and orange) a knife (to shape the layers).
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we
identified each layer by painting them in different colours.
Below are some pictures of our work.

Earthworm Digging Deeper
Hello, hello again,
On Wednesday we got to try some experiments on earthworms.
But now today we are learning to dig deeper in our sentences
from simple ones to complex ones on earthworms.
In the experiment yesterday I loved finding the worms in the forest outside.
Some of the questions were hard.
Here is my Digging Deeper sentences!!ππ

Fish bone MRS GREN
We have been learning how to write explanations and also
doing research about the living world so our teachers gave us this writing task. We learned what a fishbone diagram is and how to use a completed one to make our own using a life form of our choice. We had to organise the fact boxes by using MRS GREN which is an acronym which reminds you about what life forms do.
Here is mine. πππ
I chose to write about: Mice.π
What I liked about this task: I liked that we could chose our own life form.
What was easy: Nothing, really it was all a challenge.

The Reproduction Of A Sheep
Hello, Hello again,
Today I finished a DLO* on farm animals, I chose sheep because they are cute and fluffy.
We had to find facts about the animal we chose.
I found finding the facts for my DLO easy.
I found drawing the little lamb hard.
*DLO is short for digital learning object.

Annelise's explanation
This Friday is our Greats and Grans Day. In the activity we wrote 4 things about our grandparents problems and then chose one to write about and how to cope with it. The one I chose was lack of Eyesight.
Beginning
|
Title
Copy your explanation title here.
|
How Grandparents Cope with Eyesight.
|
1st paragraph
Define and describe what you are explaining.
|
A grandparent is a person who is old enough for their baby to have a baby. When people start to get old different parts of their bodies start to get worn out and they can no longer do what they could do before. This is called aging and it causes many problems. One aging problem is losing eyesight.
|
Middle
|
2nd paragraph
Write about one thing you can do to cope with hearing loss.
|
One thing that a grandparent can do to cope with their eyesight is getting bigger writing so they can still read books and signs around town.
|
3rd paragraph
Write about a second thing you can do to cope with hearing loss.
|
A second thing they can do is invest in a well trained guide dog to help them get around town and to not bump into things that could hurt them.
| |
4th paragraph
Write about a third thing you can do to cope with hearing loss
|
A third thing they could do is get stronger glasses to just wear around the house to see where they are going.
| |
End
|
5th paragraph
Wind up your writing.
|
Eyesight can be a difficult aging problem for grandparents to deal with but people are hopeful that improvements in technology will be a big help for this problem in the future.
